What is damper repair?
Damper repair fixes or replaces the throat damper — the plate above the firebox that opens the flue for a fire and closes it afterwards. Throat dampers warp, rust, seize and lose their handles.
A repair can be a new handle, a new plate or a rebuilt frame; where the frame is cast into the masonry, replacement often means fitting a top-sealing damper at the flue top instead.
